Week 4 of 4The Visibility Playbook

Visibility you don't have to remember

The read (3 minutes)

Everything you did in weeks 1 to 3 worked because you were paying attention to it. The honest question is what happens when the next busy month hits and visibility drops to the bottom of the list. Willpower based visibility can fade but calendar-based visibility does not.

So the last week is not a new skill. It is installation. Three standing pieces, about 45 minutes a month total: a monthly update email (you already know how), a 15-minute Friday slot for the wins log (so the raw material never goes missing), and one advocate touch a month (because the people who speak well of you deserve to know they mattered, and because advocates with current information are the ones who mention your name in the rooms that count).

That's the whole system. Small enough to survive a bad month. Visible enough to change what happens in the good ones.

This week's moves

110 min

Put it on the calendar, today. Two recurring events: "Update email" (monthly, 20 min) and "Wins log" (Friday, 15 min). Real calendar, real reminders.

215 min

Send one advocate note. Pick someone who has helped, taught, or vouched for you. Script 2, and if it fits, add script 3.

315 min

Day-28 re-score. Take the same four-statement score you did at the start, and set the two side by side so you can see what moved.

Script bank

Word for word, ready to use. Edit any script to make it yours, then copy it.

1.The monthly update

Subject: "[Month] update: [project/area]." Three bullets: shipped, in motion, coming next. One closing line: "Anything you'd want more detail on?"

2.The advocate note

"You came up when I was thinking about [topic]. Your [advice, example, support] is part of why [result] happened, and I wanted you to know it mattered."

3.The ask-forward

"Over the next quarter I'm aiming at [the next thing]. If you see [type of opportunity or conversation], I'd love to be in the room for it."

4.The review-ready quarter line

For 1:1s and reviews: "This quarter: [result], [result], [result]. Next quarter I want to take on [thing]." Your wins log writes this for you.

Friday debrief prompts

Your Friday email carries the reply template. These are the prompts inside it.

  1. What's actually on your calendar now? (Be specific. "I'll try to" is not a calendar entry.)
  2. Day-28 score next to your baseline: which statement moved most?
  3. The one habit you'll still be doing in three months. Name just one.

Your self-score: Day 28

Score each statement from 1 (not true) to 5 (true).

People beyond my manager could name what I'm working on right now.
1123455
I can state my last win in one sentence without shrinking it.
1123455
I said something in a meeting this week that wasn't a status update.
1123455
My wins from the last month are written down where I can find them.

Re-entry note

However many weeks you finished, do move 1 anyway. The calendar pieces are the part that keeps paying after the program ends.
