Welcome

You do good work. The people who could open the next door for you just don't know it yet. That isn't because you've failed to "put yourself out there." It's because the advice you've been handed treats relationships like a numbers game: go to the event, collect the contacts, work the room. So you either force it and feel fake, or you skip it, and your work keeps missing the attention it deserves. Both leave you in the same place.

Here's the idea this whole playbook is built on: relationships are something you build on purpose, not events you have to get through. The connections that actually move a career aren't built by meeting more people. They're built when the right people know what you do, trust how you do it, and will say your name in a room you're not in. That's a thing you can build on purpose, without becoming someone you're not.

Nothing here asks you to perform. Over four weeks you'll map your circle, the people already around you, learn to start a real conversation without a script, follow through so good conversations don't fade, and build toward the people who can advocate for you. You'll leave with connections that work for you when you're not in the room.

How this works

When you reply to a program email, it comes to us at Hers For The Taking. I read them, and we use what you share to make the program better. When you write about your manager, coworkers, or your company, you don't need their real names. Initials or "my manager" are plenty.

Your baseline

Score the four statements below before week 1. Don't aim for a good score. Aim for an honest one; this is the "before" picture.

Your self-score: Baseline

Score each statement from 1 (not true) to 5 (true).
